Shakespeare & Hathaway brings in EastEnders bad boy for guest role

Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators brings in another familiar face from EastEnders as a guest star today (February 21).

Monday’s episode of the BBC daytime show sees Tayla Kovacevic-Ebong take on the role of Carl Thompson for the latest mystery storyline.

Tayla made several appearances in EastEnders in late 2019 – playing Charlie ‘Tubbs’ Savage, a criminal associate of Ben Mitchell’s.

On Shakespeare & Hathaway, Tayla’s new character Carl turns up at the detective agency in strange circumstances.

Carl reveals that he works for an acclaimed sci-fi author called Greg Alban and has been instructed to bring Lu Shakespeare (Jo Joyner) and Frank Hathaway (Mark Benton) to his boss’s home.

The detective duo push for more details, but Carl refuses to give any more information away for confidentiality reasons.

Things get stranger when Carl gives Lu and Frank further strict rules, including having their phones seized.

All becomes clear when Lu and Frank arrive at Greg’s home and discover that the famous author is paranoid, reclusive and short-tempered.

Greg reveals that the final chapter of his forthcoming novel has been stolen by a mystery culprit, who is demanding £5 million in ransom money.

He promises Lu and Frank a £50,000 fee if they can unmask the culprit and prevent his work from leaking online.

With the detective agency in dire need of the cash, can Lu and Frank follow Greg’s strict orders and claim their reward?

The part of Greg is played by Clive Russell, best known for roles in Game of Thrones, Ripper Street and Happiness. He’s another familiar face to soap fans as he briefly played Billy Brodie on Hollyoaks in 2016.
