Shakespeare & Hathaway brings in another EastEnders star

Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators spoilers follow.

Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators welcomes in a former EastEnders star as part of the guest cast today (February 15).

The BBC daytime drama already features former Walford cast member Jo Joyner in the lead role of private detective Luella Shakespeare.

Tuesday’s episode of the cosy crime show sees another familiar face from Albert Square make an appearance.

Jonny Labey, best known for his role as Paul Coker on the Square, takes on the part of Toby Philkes for today’s mystery

The latest episode sees Lu and her colleague Frank Hathaway (Mark Benton) called in to investigate after a sudden death at a ballroom dancing school.

Beattie Delamar, who runs the school, is concerned as there have already been other deaths associated with her business.

The run of tragedy has led to rumours of a curse and Beattie is keen to get to the bottom of the situation.

Jonny’s character Toby is one of the regular students at the school and he’s also the boyfriend of Beattie’s daughter Olivia (Leila Mimmack).

With a few suspects in the mix, is there more going on at the dance school than meets the eye?

Jonny played Paul on EastEnders in 2015 and 2016. His exit storyline saw Paul murdered in a homophobic attack, which has recently been revisited in a more recent plot for Ben Mitchell.

Today’s Shakespeare & Hathaway sees musical theatre star and former Dancing on Ice judge Ruthie Henshall play Beattie.

Death in Paradise actor Danny John-Jules also appears as Ben Lovedon, another suspect in the case.

Shakespeare & Hathaway is back for another run of nine episodes, which are airing across the next fortnight.

The drama, set in Stratford-upon-Avon, is now in its fourth series.
