Emmerdale’s Liam Cavanagh comes clean with Cain Dingle tonight (February 21) as he continues to struggle with his recent actions.
Liam (Jonny McPherson) took revenge against serial killer Meena Jutla last week, pushing her from the bridge where she’d killed his daughter Leanna.
Meena (Paige Sandhu) survived the fall and Liam appears to have escaped unpunished, as the police have no evidence to suggest that he wasn’t acting in self-defence.
Meena made a formal complaint against Liam after regaining consciousness at the hospital, but after two police interviews, he was allowed to walk free.
In Monday night’s episode, Cain (Jeff Hordley) seeks out Liam at the allotments after realising that he may need someone to talk to.
Liam opens up to Cain about how he deliberately pushed Meena from the bridge after she cruelly taunted him over Leanna’s murder.
The local doctor is surprised by the lack of reaction from Cain, who clearly doesn’t blame him for taking matters into his own hands.
The unlikely friends then concentrate on turning over the soil at the allotments, inadvertently uncovering Meena’s hidden trinket box. This contains various mementoes that Meena took from her victims during her killing spree.
Later, Liam’s wife Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) joins him at the allotments and spots Meena’s box half-buried in the soil.
Neither of them initially realise its vital importance to the case, but will all become clear when they take a look inside? With Meena still denying any link to the murders of Leanna or Andrea Tate, the clues could be crucial.
