EastEnders star Maddie Hill appears to be recovering from what is a broken leg or foot. The Nancy Carter actress returned to the BBC soap last year, after five years away from Albert Square
EastEnders actress Maddie Hill has been snapped hobbling around on crutches.
The soap star, 31, was returning to work on the BBC show, after nursing what appears to be a broken leg or foot.
Maddie, who plays Nancy Carter on the iconic soap, was hobbling next to co-star James Farrar as she made her way into the BBC studios.
Wrapped up warm in two-tone green padded coat, the actress wore a black trainer on her right foot – with her left covered in a huge white medical rehabilitation boot.
Zack Hudson actor James walked alongside his injured co-star, flashing a smile for a the cameras as he cut a casual figure in a grey tracksuit with a blue overcoat.
The actor, 34, recently welcomed his first child into the world, with wife Ali giving birth to a baby in November.
The actor, who plays Sharon Mitchell’s brother on the BBC soap, confirmed his child’s arrival on Instagram, writing: “Life will never stand still again and nor will I! #bobbinglife.”
James and his wife have not yet confirmed their baby’s name or gender, after author Ali first confirmed she was pregnant back in July showing off her bump.
Pictured walking into work with his colleague on Wednesday, the new dad appeared to be in good spirits, as his co-star navigated life on crutches beside him.
Maddie has yet to reveal how she ended up injured and needing help walking.
The star’s last Instagram update on her main page was almost five months ago – celebrating completing a running challenge.
“LOVED every minute of Hackney Half today,” the keen runner captioned a snap of herself at the finish line.
Maddie returned to Albert Square in February 2021, after leaving the BBC soap back in 2016.
Speaking about joining EastEnders at the time, Maddy said; “I feel incredibly privileged to have been given such an amazing opportunity and I can’t wait to start work with such a talented cohort of actors.”
Danny Dyer’s on-screen daughter – who first joined EastEnders in 2014 – revealed reprising her role of Nancy Carter in 2021 had “been a big cause of anxiety”.
Speaking on social media in April 2021, Maddie admitted how “getting recognised in public for playing her is really difficult,” as she thanked fans for their support following her TV return.
“Thanks to anyone who tuned in last night! I love playing Nancy but I find getting recognised in public for playing her really difficult,” the actress wrote within a relatable Instagram caption.
“It’s been a big cause of anxiety for me recently (which I had buried- in true human fashion [winking-face emoji]- and only realised a couple of days ago).”
After discussing the anxiety and nerves linked to life returning to normal post-lockdown, the 31-year-old concluded saying: “Point being- I feel y’all, I love y’all, and we’re all mad anxious and awkward together.”
