Coronation Street star Alexandra Mardell has revealed what gift her castmates got her for her leaving party.
The actress recently filmed her final scenes as Emma Brooker after four years on the ITV soap, followed by a party which many of her co-stars attended. Of course, she wore her character’s favourite colour.
On her Instagram Stories this week, Alexandra showed off a silver chain with the date 20.4.18. engraved on it.
As she explained on the annotation on her photo, the date is a very specific reference. “First appearance on the cobbles,” she said. “Cutest gift from the Corrie fam.”
Since joining the soap, Emma’s storylines have seen her discover that Steve McDonald is her biological dad and build a relationship with him, as well as her romance with Curtis Delamere, who was eventually revealed to by lying about his health problems and left the Cobbles with Emma heartbroken.
A recent storyline saw Emma and Faye Windass accidentally run over an old man who died shortly after, and they have been trying to hide any evidence of their involvement. This will be playing into her exit, with photos from filming showing Emma getting close to the man’s grandson.
Speaking about her exit, Alexandra said that playing Emma was “the best experience of my life”, stating: “Compared to other cast members I still feel like a newbie, which makes my decision to leave all the more difficult. But I feel it’s the right time for me.’
“I can’t thank everyone at Coronation Street enough for welcoming me and trusting me to tell so many wonderful and heartfelt stories.”
