The Emma Brooker star hosts a big goodbye bash.
Coronation Street stars got together over the weekend to bid farewell to actress Alexandra Mardell and it looks like she was certainly sent off in style.
Alexandra confirmed earlier this month that she is leaving her role as Emma Brooker after four years on the soap, and the star has now celebrated her goodbye party with her co-stars and friends.
Sharing a few photos to Instagram, she wrote: “Face ache from smiling and hardly any photos are a sign of a fab night! Can we do it again? Huge hugs to everyone who came to say ta-ra for now! Had the best night with you all! Big big love”.
Among the photos were one of Alexandra laughing with Simon Gregson, who plays her on-screen dad Steve McDonald, one of her and Daniel Osbourne actor Rob Mallard with their arms around each other, and one of her embracing Colson Smith, who plays Emma’s roommate Craig Tinker.
She also shared several group shots of the cast and crew who were present, with the group also including Tanisha Gorey (Asha Alahan), Georgia Taylor (Toyah Battersby) and Charlotte Jordan (Daisy Midgeley).
Alexandra also shared a photo of herself posing in the pink dress that she wore for the night, writing: “It had to be pink”, in reference to her character’s love for the colour.
Her co-stars were sharing the love too as they commented on her posts, with Tanisha Gorey writing: “allll love over here”, Millie Gibson (Kelly Neelan) commenting: “The best night” and Charlotte Jordan saying: “Don’t goooooo”.
Emma’s final scenes will air this spring and it seems that there will still be further twists in store for the character, as recent filming photos show Emma seemingly getting close to Jon Spear (Jordan Ford Silver), the grandson of Ted Spear.
With Emma and Faye Windass (Ellie Leach) currently trying to hide their involvement in Ted’s recent death after a car accident, however, can Emma really find a happy ending with Jon?
After announcing her exit, Alexandra called playing Emma “the best experience of my life”, saying: “Compared to other cast members I still feel like a newbie, which makes my decision to leave all the more difficult. But I feel it’s the right time for me.
“I can’t thank everyone at Coronation Street enough for welcoming me and trusting me to tell so many wonderful and heartfelt stories.”
