Ramsay Street’s finest gather in Neighbours next week to remember Hendrix Greyson (Ben Turland), who dies in upcoming scenes.
Hendrix, as viewers know, was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis earlier in the year, after he became concerned about a persistent cough.
His only treatment option was a lung transplant, something which left him incredibly concerned, as he feared that he might die before a matching donor was found.
Despite his fears, however, a match was located, and the hospital notified him of such a thing last month, leaving Hendrix overjoyed.
Ahead of the operation, he fast-tracked his wedding to Mackenzie Hargreaves (Georgie Stone), and the duo tied the knot in romantic scenes last week.
Hendrix was subsequently taken into hospital for his lung transplant, and after a heart-to-heart with his loved ones, he was wheeled away for surgery.
His operation is thought to have been a success, but scenes airing this week will see tragedy strike, as his body rejects his new lungs, meaning that he’s got only hours left to live.
Hendrix, devastated, fights the pain to spend every moment possible with his nearest and dearest, before ultimately dying in heartbreaking scenes.
News of his death sends shockwaves through Ramsay Street, and it’s safe to say Mackenzie struggles to cope.
She undertakes the task of perfecting two memorials for her late husband, but her stress boils over when she realises they they’re both set to take place on the very same day, putting her in a rock and a hard place, as she wants to attend both.
Next week, Mackenzie picks up Hendrix’s ashes, and she and Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) struggle to come to terms with everything that has transpired.
Mackenzie knows the next few days will be difficult to say the least, but will she be able to hold herself together?
That remains to be seen. Subsequent scenes will see Hendrix remembered, both in Erinsborough and Sydney. The Erinsborough memorial is upbeat, while the Sydney one is more sombre.
Mackenzie revisits the place where Hendrix took her to propose, and – wearing the same dress she did on the day in question – she finds the closure she needs, as she says goodbye to the love of her life, scattering his ashes in his favourite place.
Later in the week, Grant arrives to support his daughter in her hour of need, but both he and Toadie (Ryan Moloney) are shocked by how well Mack appears to be coping.
Is all is it seems?
