Xander tends to Millie following the crash. Millie suddenly becomes frantic, asking where her friend Jo is. Xander realises there was someone else in the car. Devastated, Xander discovers a woman dead further down the road.
Shortly afterwards, Xander uses the stethoscope to listen to Millie’s chest. Her breathing becomes increasingly ragged and he is forced to perform an emergency decompression procedure to open her airways. Millie then keeps asking about Jo, but Xander urges her to focus on herself for now and lies that Jo is being cared for.
Later at the hospital, Xander gives Millie the awful truth – Jo didn’t survive the accident. Pushed to the brink emotionally, Xander rushes out and vomits into a hospital bin. Checking in, Logan reminds Xander that he’s not a friend of Millie’s and he had no responsibility to break the news. Logan is concerned by Xander’s degree of attachment to a patient he just met.
Having discussed the accident with the crash investigators, Cash relays to Rose that the cause of the crash was driver error. The only question is, which driver is at fault?
Meanwhile, Theo returns to Ziggy. He explains that theory is hard for him to grasp, but practical modes of learning make more sense. Taking heed, Ziggy lays out some engine parts on the table for Theo to fiddle with. Immediately, Theo begins to understand the concepts.
Later, Theo admits to Justin that he failed his first TAFE assignment. Rather than being angry, Justin is hurt that Theo hid the news. Theo explains to Leah that it’s hard for him to shake his learned fears from Dimitri. When he failed his driving test, Dimitri went ballistic. Somewhere deep down, Theo almost expected Justin to act out in the same way.
