Home and Away real-life couple show off adorable family member in live TV interview

Home and Away real-life couple Sophie Dillman and Paddy O’Connor are stronger than ever, and they have a fur baby to prove it.

They showed off their cavoodle Winnie during a recent appearance on The Morning Show in Australia, where hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies got to meet the adorable dog.

Aside from a bout of gastro that left Winnie spending seven days in the animal hospital, Sophie and Paddy admitted that pet ownership has been mostly smooth sailing for them so far.

The hosts even referenced an Instagram post of Paddy with Winnie that showed the dog in “his favourite position” to watch Friends – sat on top of Paddy’s chest.

According to Sophie, this was Winnie’s way of asserting dominance, as the position sends the message “they are the boss”.

The couple also touched on a previous comment of theirs, that “work is work and home is home”, admitting that “sometimes” it’s difficult to keep them separate.

“The hardest bit is if you have an argument at home and then you have to go immediately into a love scene,” Sophie said. “But you laugh about it afterwards.”

“We’re pretty good. We’ve had a lot of practice now, so it’s fine.”

Paddy also agreed that while working together while being in a couple has its moments, “we make it work”.

He added: “I mean, when you walk in the front door and you have this guy [the dog], it’s pretty hard to think about anything else.”

Paddy made his debut on the soap in 2018 as Dean Thompson, while Sophie had joined a year earlier as Ziggy Astoni – she was recently nominated for a Silver Logie award in the Most Popular Actress category for the role.

“I’m so proud. She’s extremely hard worker and an incredible actress, so she very much deserves this,” said Paddy.

“I’ll pay you later,” joked Sophie.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
