Hollyoaks spoilers: Luke’s loved ones say a painful goodbye and we’re all crying

Luke Morgan, after 23 chaotic years in Hollyoaks, is dead – and a soap nation cries.

The much loved character, played by Gary Lucy, has been through a lot, but his journey came to a tragic end in tearful scenes, following his fatal fall from a cliff.

His loved ones gathered round his hospital bed, desperately waiting for news but he eventually passed away from his injuries.

A broken Cindy sobbed by her fiance and told him that she would never stop loving him, before giving him an agonised final kiss.

Sister Zara berated herself for spending the holiday taking photos and making videos when she should have been spending time with her brother – but in fact, she has been making memories that would last a lifetime.

And Ollie burst into tears and hugged his lost dad, telling him that he was the best dad he could ever have wished for.

Back in the village, Darren arrived home and took Nancy in his arms, as they both mourned the loss of someone who had been in their lives for as long as they could remember.

And it was a bittersweet occasion too as Nancy had just welcomed their baby daughter into the world.

A family united, Darren remembered Luke while also cradling his new baby with love.

Luke got the last word of the episode – and his voice even conceded that he was always last to leave the party.

As he faded away, we saw a final video of him taken during the holiday in which he told Cindy that he couldn’t wait to spend the rest of his life with her.

And that was quite enough for us.

Don’t mind us, we’re just going to sit in a dark corner.
