Hollyoaks announces another returning character for Luke Morgan’s storyline

What trouble will she cause this time around?

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks has announced the return of former cast member Susie Amy, as she gears up to reprise the role of Luke Morgan’s fiery ex-wife Scarlett.

Today (February 8), Channel 4 revealed that Amy is set to make a guest appearance on the show later this year – and she’ll be bringing the “explosive” drama when she does.

“So happy to be bringing Scarlett back to Hollyoaks,” the actress said in a statement. “Really looking forward to a brilliant new storyline, and seeing everyone.”

Amy made her first appearance on the long-running soap back in January 2018, when Scarlett rocked up to the village to sign divorce papers and check in on her son, Ollie. A few months prior to her arrival, it had been revealed that she’d left Luke (Gary Lucy) because of his struggles with alcoholism.

Luke was determined to finalise his separation from Scarlett as he prepared to marry Mandy Richardson (Sarah Jayne Dunn), and asked lawyer Sami Maalik (Rishi Nair) to track down his estranged wife so they can arrange the proceedings, which prompted her to drop in just days before the wedding.

Other recent returnees for Luke’s story have included his sister Zara, who’ll be back permanently, and Stephen MacGregor (as a guest).

Prior to 2018, Lucy and Amy worked together on Footballers’ Wives, the ITV drama that centred around players belonging to the fictional Premier League club, Earls Park FC.

In that, their characters were married too, with Lucy portraying Kyle Pascoe and Amy bringing his troubled partner Chardonnay Lane to life.

Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
