“Never say never!”
Emmerdale’s Meena Jutla exited the show just a couple of months ago following a gruelling trial, but fans are already theorising about her possible return.
After a killing spree and a dramatic court hearing, Meena was eventually given a lengthy prison sentence, bringing her storyline to an end.
However, with Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary coming up, some viewers have been speculating that Meena could escape from prison and return to the village.
Speaking to OK! Magazine at the 2022 British Soap Awards, Paige Sandhu, who won the award for Best Leading Performer for her portrayal of Meena, addressed the speculation of a potential return.
“Never say never!” she responded. “You know what, never say never. Anything goes in Emmerdale, especially for the 50th.
“It’s going to be the biggest and best year yet. In the past, historically, Emmerdale has broken other prisoners out of jail so it could happen… but we’ll see.”
Sandhu, who started playing Meena in 2020, recently spoke to Insertions.us about her future career plans, sharing that she would love to continue playing villains.
“I definitely want to continue to play baddies. I love baddies. I think they’re just so much fun to play,” she said.
“I just want to continue playing characters that are wildly different than me – where you can have a lot of fun, the roles are really challenging and fulfilling, and it doesn’t really matter whether they are a goodie or a baddie.”
Sandhu also praised the ITV soap for making her feel welcome during her time there.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
