“This is such a gritty and important storyline.”
Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Amelia Spencer got a shock in Emmerdale recently when she found out that she was pregnant, and it looks like she will have some tough choices to make in her future.
The 15-year-old, played by Daisy Campbell, is now at the centre of a ‘who’s the daddy’ storyline with Noah and Samson Dingle both on viewers’ radars.
Daisy has been talking about the teen pregnancy storyline with The Mirror, explaining why she was excited to get such a meaty plot to work with.
“Teen mums do an amazing job and I really want to do this justice for them all. This is such a gritty and important storyline,” she said.
“Being a teen mum is not something I would want right now. Amelia is only 15 and she finds it so crazy at first that she is pregnant. She is still a child. She hasn’t left school yet and it’s a total nightmare for her.”
Of course, there are choices in the UK for those who discover that they are pregnant, and there is still every chance that Amelia will choose not to go through with the pregnancy.
“She thinks she is too young to have a baby and she won’t be able to provide. I don’t want to spoil it today as to whether she does have an abortion or not, but she is in for some rocky few months,” Daisy said.
In the same interview, Daisy admitted that she would be open to taking part in one reality TV show in particular, like many of her peers before her.
“I would love to take part on Dancing on Ice while still working on Emmerdale,” she said. “I want to stay on the soap for as long as I can. I am not very good on ice, but I would love to learn how to skate.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
