“She causes a bit of a stir.”
Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale’s Bradley Johnson has confirmed a returning character in upcoming episodes.
Appearing on Wednesday’s This Morning (June 8), the Vinny Dingle actor told Sharon Marshall that Liv Flaherty’s mother Sandra, played by Joanne Mitchell, will be back and cause some trouble.
“For Vinny, as we know, his happiness is very short-lived,” Johnson said, when asked what the future holds for his character.
“I believe we’ve got a visitor coming to the village which is Sandra, which is Liv’s mum, and I believe she causes a bit of a stir. We’ll have to wait and see.”
It’s been a relationship of ups and downs for Liv and Vinny. Even their wedding had issues, but since tying the knot, things have been solid. So, of course, things need to be shaken up.
It’ll be interesting how seeing her mum again will affect Liv (Isobel Steele), as last year, Sandra impacted Liv’s recovery from alcoholism. At the time, it led to Liv and Vinny breaking up.
Johnson continued by talking about how he felt about being nominated at this year’s British Soap Awards, including Best On-Screen Partnership with Steele, saying: “It feels amazing and again a massive thanks to the producers and writers for writing so amazingly for the pair of them.
“We’ve just had the wedding and it was a pleasure to shoot and Izzy’s great and it’s been amazing.”
The star continued by praising his on-screen wife, saying: “She’s amazing to work with, and the whole storyline – the ups and downs they’ve had as a couple – it’s been great to play.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
