Emmerdale star Amy Walsh updates fans on Tracy Metcalfe return

When will Tracy be back in the village?

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh has shared an update on when viewers might expect to see her character, Tracy Metcalfe, back on screen – and it sounds like we might have to wait a while for her return.

The actress welcomed her first child with her partner, EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith, over the Christmas period and is now on maternity leave with no plans to return just yet.

Amy and Toby-Alexander appeared on Loose Women together, along with their baby daughter Bonnie, on Friday (March 25) to talk about life with their new daughter, and host Kaye Adams also took the opportunity to ask Amy if she will be making an Emmerdale comeback anytime soon.

“Oh, yeah. I mean, God knows when,” Amy, who first joined Emmerdale as Tracy in 2014, said. “I don’t know. I’ve got to figure it out logistically, because obviously!” she added, pointing to her daughter.

The couple, who met while sitting in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, also opened about Bonnie’s difficult birth, with Amy saying that it was a “tough” experience.

“It wasn’t easy at all. I’d kind of prepared myself for the worst but it was worse than the worst,” she said. “I had to be induced for various reasons and risk of infection which obviously just catapults you doesn’t it.

“The contractions were going fast but I wasn’t dilating. Then it was just really hard to get her out in the end and various other complications.”

Toby-Alexander added that he had also found the birth difficult, saying: “It’s so hard seeing the person you love and care about, which is ultimately such a magical thing, going through so much pain.”

Amy also joked that she mistakenly thought that little Bonnie was a boy at first, because “the umbilical cord was stuck to her in a weird way and I thought it was something else!”

Tracy was seen departing the village earlier this year with her baby daughter Frankie as she accepted an exciting new job in Nottingham, leaving Frankie’s dad Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) devastated.
