Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) bravely comes out as gay in Emmerdale next week, much to the shock of daughter Rhona (Zoe Henry), who cruelly outs her in subsequent scenes.
The popular newcomer discusses her sexuality with Kim Tate (Claire King) in upcoming scenes, after a question evokes some painful emotions for her.
A weight, however, is lifted for Mary, as she comes out to her new friend, and recalls the details of her lost love.
Kim proves to be incredibly supportive, and even encourages Mary to come out to Rhona.
Mary isn’t quite sure if she’s ready for that, and subsequent scenes see her contemplate telling her daughter the truth. Rhona, however, is incredibly busy, and thus Mary decides to leave it for the time being.
But after a while, she reconsiders, and comes out to Rhona.
Rhona is left in complete and utter shock about her mum’s revelation, but she listens as Mary explains all there is to know.
The vet is taken aback to find out the woman her mum fell in love with was actually her recently-deceased neighbour, and thus she starts to question if her whole family was built on lies.
Mary is left incredibly hurt by her daughter’s reaction, but Rhona proceeds to make things even worse for her, as she cruelly outs her, announcing to the whole room that her mother is gay.
Will Mary be able to forgive Rhona for betraying her in such a way? What’s more, will Rhona be able to get her head around what Mary has told her?
Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards), meanwhile, proves supportive towards Mary, who shares details of her life and her sexuality with him.
