Different people have different ways of coping with distress, but Chas (Lucy Pargeter) in Emmerdale is about to find a very specific type of comfort – in the arms of Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).
Chas is shattered when she and Faith (Sally Dexter) attend a hospital appointment and Faith is told that her cancer has spread. Following this, Faith makes the decision to stop all treatment, even though Chas begs her to continue with the chemo.
It’s in the aftermath of this that Chas bumps into Al outside the Hop and they share a passionate kiss.
The relationship between Al and Chas has been growing steadily in the time since Chas discovered that her mother’s cancer has returned and she’s been leaning on him for support. But in upcoming episodes, they take things further as Al allows Chas to use him to escape her problems.
But will this lead to a full-blown affair? And is it something that’s going to stay secret for long if it does?
With Chas’s brother Cain (Jeff Hordley) already feeling the stress over his mother’s illness, he’d probably be able to release a few tensions of his own by knocking seven bells out of Al if he discovered what he and Chas were up to.
And what about Paddy (Dominic Brunt)? Chas is married to one of the nicest, kindest men in the village. How can she risk breaking Paddy’s heart?
Oh, Chas. This is a very, very risky course of action.
