Emmerdale confirms Marlon Dingle and Rhona Goskirk’s touching wedding outcome

Emmerdale has confirmed that Marlon Dingle will walk down the aisle at his wedding next week, marking a new milestone in his ongoing recovery.

The fan favourite, who suffered a stroke in March, has been working hard in physiotherapy sessions in order to achieve this aim at the ceremony.

New photos released by the ITV soap show the moment that Marlon arrives at the village church and steps out of his wheelchair.

As Marlon heads towards Rhona, she’s visibly moved to see how much this means to him.

This all follows hours of uncertainty over whether the ceremony would go ahead at all.

On the eve of the wedding, Marlon’s legs suddenly buckle during his stag party and he falls to the ground.

Marlon’s best friend Paddy Dingle insists on taking him to the hospital to get checked out. Marlon agrees, but only on the condition that Rhona isn’t told.

When Marlon has to stay in hospital overnight, he fears that his wedding is under threat. Even the next morning, he’s told that his blood pressure is too high for him to be discharged.

As Paddy tries to keep Marlon calm, Rhona remains oblivious to what’s going on.

Rhona’s mum Mary and her best friend Vanessa Woodfield are forced to stall for time until Marlon is allowed home.

Everyone is emotional when Marlon finally arrives and exchanges his vows with Rhona after walking down the aisle.

In heartwarming scenes, it seems that the day will be everything they’d hoped for.

Zoe Henry and Mark Charnock, who play Rhona and Marlon, spoke about the upcoming scenes at an Emmerdale press conference yesterday (August 1).

Zoe told Insertions.us and other press: “We were emotional filming the episode. The script was written by Caroline Mitchell, who’s a favourite of both of ours.

“Caroline writes in a very emotive way, so those emotions came out of us very easily.”

Mark added: “It was quite an intense atmosphere on set. Caroline writes quite intense scripts and there are so many stories going on in this episode. When I read the script, I found it relentlessly moving, all the way through.

“There are scenes involving the Faith story in the episode too, which are incredible. There are also great scenes for Priya’s story.”
