Emmerdale airs emotional scenes for Rhona Goskirk after Pierce Harris twist

Rhona Goskirk has discovered that her abusive ex-husband Pierce Harris has died in Emmerdale.

Pierce had recently been in contact with Rhona from prison to ask for help finding his long-lost son Marcus Dean, revealing to her that he had a terminal illness.

While she was discouraged from meeting Marcus by Vanessa Woodfield, Rhona did make contact with Pierce’s son for a series of poignant scenes across this week.

In Friday’s (February 4) episode, Marcus told Rhona they wouldn’t be able to go visit Pierce because he’d taken “a turn for the worse”.

The news was a crushing disappointment for Marcus, since he’d not be able to tell his father how miserable he’d made life for his mum.

“I want to tell him, I’m alright. Despite being an inconvenience to him, I’ve actually done okay,” Marcus insisted. “He wants to write his own end to his story, and he shouldn’t get to do that.

“He doesn’t deserve to.”

Their conversation was interrupted by a call from the prison, where Marcus was informed that Pierce had died. Later, Rhona opened up to Vanessa over her feelings about the death of her abusive ex.

“The news will filter through [the village], and then that’s it,” she told Vanessa. “It’s over for good.”

While her ordeal is behind her, Rhona will be dredging up more memories from the past with the introduction of her mum Mary soon — as played by former EastEnders star Louise Jameson.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Louise to Emmerdale,” producer Laura Shaw said. “It’s great to have such a high calibre and talented actor join our already strong team and she will be a fabulous asset to the show.

“Intelligent, witty and complex, Mary promises to be a force to be reckoned with in the village and for Rhona, there won’t ever be a dull moment whilst her domineering mother is around.”

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
