Meanwhile, Janine struggles to keep her secret.

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has revealed a first look at devastating new scenes for Mick Carter following Linda’s accident.

Linda’s life is hanging in the balance following her involvement in a dramatic car crash with Janine Butcher.

New spoiler photos from Wednesday’s episode (June 8) now show Janine join Mick’s side at the hospital as the Queen Vic landlord anxiously waits for news on Linda.

Mick is horrified when he discovers the extent of Linda’s injuries and realises how serious the situation is.

Janine, who has hatched a cruel plan to frame her nemesis for the crash, feels nervous as Mick questions how Linda could drink and drive.

This puts pressure on Janine to continue her scheming, needing Mick to believe that Linda is capable of this.

As Mick continues to cope badly with the upsetting updates on Linda, a panicking Janine wonders whether she can really keep her secret safe.

Tuesday’s EastEnders episode saw Janine pull an unconscious Linda from the car and move her into the driver’s seat. She later pretended to be a passer-by and fled from the scene when another woman stopped to help.

Charlie Brooks, who plays Janine, recently spoke about what her character felt in that tense moment: “Panic. I think it’s panic. I think when she moves Linda, she’s doing whatever she can to not look guilty in this situation. This is when Janine is at her worst because she doesn’t think things through… or does she?

“It’s her natural instinct to save herself. She is ultimately the most self-centred person you can ever wish to meet. I do think there are elements of guilt for Janine. I don’t think she’s just cold-hearted.

“I do think she has moments of reflection and guilt, but the feeling of panic and desperation overrides that and she just wants to save herself.”

EastEnders continues on Wednesday, June 8 at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on the BBC iPlayer.
