EastEnders hints how Janine could be caught out over Linda scheme

Janine’s shock actions could come back to haunt her.

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders‘ Janine Butcher has revealed her true colours once again in tonight’s trip to Albert Square, but it may not be long before she’s caught out for her shocking behaviour.

Last night’s episode saw Janine (Charlie Brooks) and Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) lives left hanging in the balance after they were involved in a horror car crash, which saw Janine crash into a tree after she swerved to avoid a speeding truck.

Tuesday night’s (June 7) episode picked up in the aftermath, with baby Annie’s cries rousing a dazed Janine.

Janine quickly realised the extent of Linda’s injuries but rather than calling for help, she decided to cover up her own role in the accident instead and dragged an unconscious Linda over to the driver’s seat to make it look as if Linda had been the one to drive the car after having a drink.

With the scene set, Janine then pretended that she’d had nothing to do with the accident when a passerby stopped to help, before she quickly fled the scene under the guise of trying to find her lost dog.

Later, Janine returned to the Square to face her daughter Scarlett’s wrath, having abandoned their plans to visit Janine’s sister Clare to rush off to meet Linda in a bid to stop her from revealing the truth about her recent scheming to Mick.

To pacify Scarlett and secure herself an alibi, Janine insisted that they would still be leaving to visit Clare, but first she had to try and cover up her own injury and get rid of her bloodied clothes.

“We have to go, we have to,” Janine insisted. “Clare is expecting us – plus she’s really looking forward to seeing you.”

Unfortunately for Janine, however, as she ditched her clothes from the crash in the bin at the car dealership, she failed to spot that Mick’s daughter Frankie (Rose Ayling-Ellis) was across the street with Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold), with the two taking photos for Lola’s dating profile.

Could the two have captured some incriminating evidence in the background of their photoshoot?

Janine actress Charlie Brooks previously teased “huge complications” for her character in the wake of the crash, adding: “You will see Janine in huge desperation trying to do whatever she can to keep her man.”

Janine and Linda’s feud is also paving the way for a huge storyline for the Carters later this month. Between Linda’s severe injuries following the crash and Danny Dyer’s impending exit as Mick Carter, will the Carters’ lives ever be the same?

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
