Coronation Street’s Yasmeen Metcalfe receives a warning after Stu Carpenter decision

Yasmeen Metcalfe’s bold decision to stand by Stu Carpenter following revelations about his past will raise a few eyebrows in new Coronation Street scenes.

Regular Corrie viewers will be aware that Yasmeen was horrified to discover Stu spent years in prison for murder. He told her he once confessed to killing a woman, but denied being the culprit.

However, after some investigation from Zeedan and Alya, with a bit of help from Adam Barlow and Stu’s solicitor Norman, Yasmeen will decide she believes Stu is not guilty of the crime. But not everyone is comfortable with her decision.

Things escalate after Stu apologises to Kelly Neelan for forcing her to stay away from him while he recovered in hospital recently.

Meanwhile, Tim Metcalfe (with the devastation caused to Yasmeen by dad Geoff still very much at the forefront of his thinking) later warns Stu to steer clear of Yasmeen.

But Kelly later reveals that Stu is living with Yasmeen once again, and that she intends to stand by him.

Stunned by this twist, Tim and Elaine Jones, Geoff’s ex-wife, both plead with Yasmeen to think twice about her decision to support Stu.

Over at Number 6, Stu offers to leave, but Yasmeen suggests running away will only make him look like a guilty man.

With others disapproving of her decision to believe Stu, will Yasmeen continue to stick by him?

Coronation Street also recently confirmed that former Brookside star Gabrielle Glaister has been cast in the soap as Fern, the doppelgänger of Bernie Winters.

Later this month, Fern’s introduction could spell mischief as she attempts to involve Bernie in some criminal deeds.

“Jane [Hazlegrove] and I have been mistaken for each other for years and years,” said Glaister. “Me constantly denying that I was in Casualty, Jane insisting that she wasn’t in Brookside.

“When they approached me with the storyline, it seemed like fate! What they’ve written is so clever and I’m having a ball working with Jane.”

Glaister previously appeared in Corrie in the year 2000 playing Debs Brownlow, the sister of Denise Welch’s character Natalie Horrocks.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
