Coronation Street’s Sally Metcalfe is set to sabotage mother-in-law Elaine Jones in an upcoming episode, as tensions between the pair continue.
The pair have found themselves shacked up together in recent weeks, in their joint attempt to nurse Tim (Joe Duttine) back to health following his triple bypass surgery. And it’s safe to say, they haven’t seen eye to eye.
First they clashed over the kinds of meals Sally (Sally Dynevor) was preparing for Tim, with Elaine suggesting that her culinary creations weren’t healthy enough for her recovering son.
Then, Elaine (Paula Wilcox) put a spanner in the works for a second time, when she argued that Sally and Tim shouldn’t be sharing a bed at the moment as the latter needs all the rest he can get. Not to mention the fact – (though she did) – that the doctors advised Tim against engaging in any sort of sexual activity so soon after his operation.
In scenes scheduled to air on February 11, the trials and tribulations of living in such close quarters will prove too much for Sally, and when Elaine arranges a movie night for the three of them, she deliberately tells her that Terms of Endearment is Tim’s favourite film.
As Tim and Steve settle in for the movie, they’re horrified when Elaine reveals what she’s got in store for them to watch. Will Elaine realise Sally stitched her up and that she’s starting to outstay her welcome?
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday, February 11 at 7.30pm on ITV.
