Coronation Street to revisit Toyah Battersby’s past as death investigation continues

Can she prove her innocence?

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street‘s Toyah Battersby faces upsetting reminders of her past next week as she remains under suspicion from the police.

Toyah is currently under investigation after her role in the car crash that killed her husband Imran last week.

In upcoming episodes, Toyah attends Imran’s funeral and delivers a heartfelt eulogy for her husband.

Toyah admits that she wishes Imran had survived the car crash rather than her.

Imran’s colleague Adam Barlow watches on sceptically, while Alya Nazir also appears to distrust Toyah.

Once the service is over, Toyah’s ex-partner Peter Barlow approaches her and discreetly warns that Adam has been making allegations against her.

Peter also warns that the police have quizzed him about Toyah’s desperation for a baby and how this may link to Imran’s death.

This included difficult questions on the baby Susie scandal, when Toyah hatched a plan to pass off Eva Price’s newborn baby daughter as her own.

As Toyah realises that a case could be building against her, she visits the police station of her own accord and tells DS Swain that there are things they need to talk about.

Later in the week, Toyah is still being held by the police, so her sister Leanne becomes desperate for news on how things are going.

Leanne is determined to stand by her sibling, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Toyah makes it clear that she didn’t intend to kill Imran or herself and she won’t lie to that effect, but will anyone believe her?

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, June 13 and Wednesday, June 15 at 8pm on ITV. The show also streams on the ITV Hub.
