Toyah Battersby’s (Georgia Taylor) life was turned upside down after crashing her car in Coronation Street.
As viewers know, Toyah and Imran (Charlie de Melo) were involved in a crash a few months ago after the truth about Imran’s betrayal was revealed.
The injuries Imran sustained led to his death and when an investigation was launched, Toyah was subsequently arrested and charged with murder.
Due to the conversation beforehand and the fact Toyah made no effort to brake or swerve the car, it certainly looks as though she crashed with the intention of killing her husband.
It’s an interesting storyline, to say the least and as expected, Weatherfield residents are divided. There’s Alya (Sair Khan), for example, she believes Toyah did kill Imran but also, Leanne (Jane Danson) thinks her sister should walk free.
Adding the return of Spider (Martin Hancock) into the mix has left many of Toyah’s neighbours convinced she’s replacing Imran with her former lover.
Of course, we say walk free because Toyah will soon face an intense murder trial and eventually find out if she’s heading for prison.
But what does Georgia Taylor think about her character? Did Toyah want to kill?
‘I think it’s a very grey area and her guilt is huge, whether she is guilty of murder or not, she was at the wheel of that car’, she said.
‘So she feels responsible for his death and the fact that Alfie is going to spend the rest of his life growing up without his dad. It’s heartbreaking, it’s a huge, huge burden for her to carry.’
‘She is scared, she’s lonely, she is still grieving losing the man she loved and that chance of being a mum and being a family.
‘I can’t even imagine on top of that having to face a murder trial, her emotions are all over the place.’
