Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) is facing the prospect of years behind bars after robbing the bistro in Coronation Street.
The naïve character committed the theft because Debbie (Sue Devaney) was planning to claim on the insurance.
On Monday, Ryan was certain things would work in their favour. He’d rob the restaurant, Debbie would get the cash, they’d share it and he’d be off to Ibiza, returning to his dream career of being a DJ.
On Wednesday, Ryan was arrested after being found on the CCTV.
He was questioned by a police officer, but he refused to answer, which just made him look guilty.
Back in Weatherfield, a panicked Debbie was running around trying to hide her involvement in the crime.
She paid Ed (Trevor Michael Georges) his compensation, which came from the money Ryan had stolen.
Tonight, Nick (Ben Price) told Ryan that he must return all of the cash and if not, he’ll make sure he’s charged for more than just stealing.
Feeling guilty, Debbie put forward her plan to try and save Ryan.
Poor Ryan had already lost his home, his friends, his family, he was at rock bottom – so he agreed.
Returning home from the station, Ryan revealed he had told the police he was coerced into the robbery by some dodgy blokes in masks who threatened to kill him.
Ryan slammed Debbie and her lies; certain the police did not believe him.
An optimistic Debbie tried to make Ryan see that because he mentioned Ray Crosby (Mark Frost), the police will investigate his criminal history, increasing the chance of Ray being charged and them going a little easier on Ryan.
‘It was the best I could come up with’, Debbie told Ryan, which obviously isn’t true as well…you know…she could just…
Tell the truth.
