Coronation Street spoilers: Audrey is put on anti-depressants after hospital rush

Concern has been mounting on Coronation Street recently about Audrey (Sue Nicholls). First the family were concerned about her drinking, and then after a nasty accident at the barbers’ she found herself in hospital having surgery.

It wasn’t long after that that Audrey once again landed in hospital, this time after taking too many sleeping pills. She insisted that this had just been an accident but the hospital psychiatrist was concerned about how upset Audrey seemed.

Audrey was at pains to keep this trip to hospital a secret from her family, not wanting to have them fussing over her again. As Sue Nicholls told us, ‘She feels they are stifling her independence and judging her in totally the wrong way. I can identify with Audrey, I live on my own and love my independence and it is difficult for her having people trying to take it away.’

In upcoming episodes Audrey has a follow-up visit with Dr Gaddas (Christine Mackie). Once again Audrey insists that she miscalculated her sleeping pills and she doesn’t need therapy. Dr Gaddas suggests a course of antidepressants.

Meanwhile Rita (Barbara Knox) is concerned to hear from Stephen (Todd Boyce) that he’s concerned about his mother, so she organises a posh afternoon tea for Audrey, Ken (William Roache), Roy (David Neilson) and herself to cheer their friend up.

Let’s hope Audrey is soon back to her old self again.
