Coronation Street confirms custody battle for Imran and Abi

Dirty tactics are afoot.

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Imran Habeeb and Abi Webster will battle it out for custody of baby Alfie in Coronation Street scenes next week.

Airing Wednesday, April 13 and Friday, April 15 on ITV, new dad Imran kickstarts the drama by informing Abi that he’s flat-hunting after being dumped by his heartbroken fiancée Toyah Battersby. He’d like her to move in with Alfie, but Abi rejects the offer.

Later on, Imran hears from Kelly Neelan that Abi saved her from taking some morphine, but this is an immediate red flag as Abi, a recovering drug addict who recently relapsed, is now in possession of the morphine.

Imran quickly decides that the only thing to do is to fight for custody of Alfie.

Meanwhile, Abi tells husband Kevin Webster that she’d like to return to work to better her son’s life, but she’s left shocked upon discovering Imran’s custody plan.

In retaliation, she meets up with her solicitor Elliot to begin her own custody application.

Out on the cobbles, Abi encounters Imran and reveals her intentions. However, Imran’s got some dirty tricks up his sleeve.

Previously discussing her character’s storyline, Sally Carman suggested Abi would opt to look after her baby without Imran.

“I think in an ideal world, she’d love that,” she told INSERTIONS. “She’d love it to just be her and Alfie. They could start afresh.

“She could prove to herself that she can be a good mum and provide a loving, safe environment – and right a lot of wrongs through doing that.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
