Coronation Street airs mysterious car crash for Imran and Toyah

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has aired a mysterious car crash for Imran and Toyah.

Tuesday’s edition of the soap revealed more about the car accident (or not-so-accident) from the flashforward scene, after Imran and Toyah caught on to Abi’s attempt to flee with baby Alfie.

Imran used this knowledge to his advantage by essentially blackmailing Abi into handing over the baby, leaving her heartbroken over the prospect of potentially never seeing him again.

“You’re in no fit state,” Imran told Abi. “I’m his father. I’d do anything to keep him safe.”

In another nasty move, Imran shared the plot with Toyah, leading her to consider going to the police. Imran’s guilty conscience took hold as he eventually persuaded Toyah against getting the police involved.

Kevin was also desperate over the news as he worried Abi might harm herself, so he pressured Imran into promising he would not involve the authorities.

Later, Imran was horrified to find out Toyah had made the decision to press on with filing a police report. He rushed to intercept her after telling Kelly the truth and he managed to talk Toyah out of speaking with the police.

Vowing to admit what he’d done, he warned Toyah: “I’d much rather just go home. You might need a drink.”

The pair were on their way home when a crash took place off-screen. Viewers weren’t yet shown the actual crash, but the aftermath looked brutal as a battered and bloodied Imran and Toyah were unconscious in the smoking car.

Even worse, they’d crashed into scaffolding that was now teetering above them…

If you’re upset about missing the moment of impact and the surrounding events, Coronation Street bosses have confirmed a flashback scene will air later in the week to reveal what actually happened.

There will now be suspicion over whether Kevin and/or Abi sabotaged the car. Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell recently addressed questions of whether or not Kevin could be capable of sabotage.

“I don’t think he is, but do the police think he is? That’s the thing – Kevin fixed the car,” he admitted to This Morning.

Coronation Street airs at the earlier time of 7.30pm all this week on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
